Supporting Our Parkinson’s Community At Caraway House

At Caraway House, we are proud to open our doors each month to a local Parkinson’s support group, helping to create a welcoming space for both our residents and members of the wider community living with Parkinson’s.

The local group was originally established within the community, but after recognising how difficult it can be for people living with Parkinson’s to find suitable venues and regular opportunities to meet, we were delighted to offer Caraway House as its new home. For the past two months, our beautiful home has provided a comfortable and accessible setting where friendships can flourish and everyone feels welcome.

These monthly gatherings are about so much more than living with Parkinson’s. They are an opportunity for people to come together over a cup of tea and cake, share stories, enjoy laughter and talk about everyday life. While members naturally understand the challenges that Parkinson’s can bring, conversations are not centred entirely on the condition. Instead, they focus on family, hobbies, memories and all the little moments that make life meaningful. It is a chance to relax, socialise and enjoy the company of people who truly understand one another.

One of our own residents attended the group and found it to be an incredibly positive experience. She described it as warm, welcoming and friendly group, saying, "It’s nice to talk with others who know what I live with day to day". She was especially proud to welcome everyone into her home, enthusiastically showing visitors around Caraway House and sharing how much she enjoys living here. Seeing her confidence grow and watching her proudly introduce others to her home was truly special moment for our team.

Hosting the Parkinson’s group reflects our commitment to supporting not only the people who live at Caraway House but also those within the wider community. We understand how important it is for people living with Parkinson’s to have access to friendship, understanding and meaningful social opportunities and we are honoured to help make that possible.

The group will continue to meet at Caraway House each month, and we look forward to welcoming familiar faces alongside anyone who may be joining for the first time. We hope that, through simple acts of kindness, conversations, we can continue to make a positive difference to the lives of people living with Parkinson’s.
