We have in-house chefs who take great delight in providing varied home-cooked meals featuring some of our residents’ favourite dishes. Our residents’ preferences and best interests are always at the forefront of everything we do at our care home in Selsey, so they have complete freedom on where they want to enjoy their meals, whether it is in our dedicated dining room or in the privacy of their bedroom.

Food has such a strong impact on our health as we age, and we recognise that eating a decent meal has a big impact on our overall health and well-being. When our residents are ready to move in, our chefs will take the time to meet with residents and create a tailored nutritional passport with all of their dietary needs and preferences. Therefore, friends and family members can rest assured knowing that residents are having a wonderful time and eating amazing food every day in their home away from home.

Each community offers a welcoming dining room, giving residents the opportunity to dine with different groups of people, encourage social connections and enjoy a varied dining experience in comfortable surroundings.

For those who prefer to dine in the privacy of their own room, we also offer an in-room dining service. If additional support is needed, a member of our compassionate team can sit with a resident and provide discreet assistance, ensuring they can enjoy their meal comfortably and at their own pace. Whatever a resident’s preferences or needs, we’re always on hand to help.

Residents’ friends, family members and other loved ones are also welcome to join us for meal times, whether in our communal dining room, a private dining room for special occasions, or in the garden during the warmer months. Sharing meals with loved ones is one of life’s simple pleasures, and we are committed to making every dining experience at Caraway House as enjoyable, relaxed and memorable as possible.

Dining With Dementia

We also pay special attention to detail in order to provide a quiet and enjoyable eating experience for our dementia residents, making sure that all meals are served in a clutter-free environment, alleviating our residents’ frustrations and tensions connected with dementia. Our team also tailor our menu to ensure all of our residents can keep enjoying the traditional meals they remember and love, such as fish and chips on a Friday and roast dinners on a Sunday, as well as nutritional snacks for those who prefer to graze.

We also have specialised tableware which benefits our dementia residents as it helps them preserve their fine motor skills, allowing them to be able to eat and enjoy their meals as independently as possible at our Selsey care home.

We have a dedicated team of kitchen staff with a head chef who receive ongoing training to ensure they serve delicious and nutritious meals to residents on a daily basis. The kitchen team work well with our residents to make sure they understand their preferences and dietary requirements in order to prepare delicious meals that everyone can enjoy.

The food passport is created on a resident’s first day to record their favourite dishes, dislikes, and dietary needs. It helps our chefs tailor every meal to their preferences.

Our residents can choose from a range of spaces to dine, from a communal dining room, personal bedrooms, private dining rooms and if the weather is on our side, outside in the sunshine.

Absolutely, each resident has total control over what they eat for each meal by choosing from a menu. Residents can choose from the menus provided, or if they’d like to chat with our chefs to see what alternatives they can offer, they can.
