At Caraway House, we believe that every celebration is an opportunity to bring our residents, their families, and the wider community together. This month we marked St Patrick’s Day in style with a weekend full of festivities, entertainment, and traditional Irish treats.

The home was beautifully decorated with Irish-themed bunting and decorations that truly set the tone for a joyful celebration. Residents and staff embraced the spirit of the occasion, sharing stories, laughter, and a wonderful sense of togetherness. Our talented chefs prepared a special menu featuring classic Irish dishes including a delicious Guinness cake and traditional Irish coffees. The carefully crafted menu brought a taste of Ireland to our home, with residents reminiscing about past celebrations and enjoying new culinary delights.

The entertainment was spread across several days, ensuring that everyone had the chance to join in the fun. On Saturday, we welcomed a talented group of young Irish dancers who put on a mesmerising performance. Residents, along with their family and friends, were captivated by the energy and skill of the dancers, with smiles all around as they watched the lively routines. The group included children of various ages, and each performance was met with rounds of applause from the delighted audience.

In addition to the dancing, we were joined by our local TOC group whose young adults took part in a Well-being Exercise Class alongside our residents. The class was full of energy and enthusiasm and Irish music was playing in the background which added a fun and engaging twist to our regular exercise sessions. The week’s celebrations continued with a visit from our local church group, who spent the morning singing traditional songs with residents. The uplifting music brought back fond memories and created a warm, communal atmosphere.

To round off the festivities, we embarked on an "armchair travel" journey through Ireland and explored the country’s rich history and culture through themed crafts, quizzes, and discussions. Residents enjoyed learning about Ireland’s traditions and landscapes as it sparked conversations and new connections among friends.

At Caraway House, events like these are at the heart of our community. Celebrations bring joy, laughter, and a sense of belonging to our residents, while also strengthening our ties with family, friends, and local groups. We are already looking forward to our next big event and welcoming everyone back for more special moments together.
