Caraway House Team Rallies for RNLI Lifeboat Week

Caraway House Care Home recently participated in the annual Selsey Lifeboat Week, a cherished local event dedicated to raising funds and awareness for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI). This week-long series of activities brought together the Selsey community in a shared mission to support the lifesavers who have been protecting lives at sea since 1824. Caraway House was proud to be part of these events, showcasing our commitment to supporting both the RNLI and the Selsey community.

The festivities kicked off with a lively quiz night held at The Seal, a beloved local pub. Among the 25 participating teams, Caraway House assembled a spirited group of eight team members who competed with enthusiasm. The evening was filled with camaraderie and friendly competition.

The following evening, more team members from Caraway House joined in the fun by participating in a treasure hunt around Selsey. This activity challenged participants to follow a map and solve clues to locate hidden items throughout the town. Our team once again demonstrated their problem-solving skills and determination, finishing in 12th place out of approximately 30 teams. The treasure hunt was not only an enjoyable experience but also a great way for our team to bond with each other and with the wider community.

The highlight of Lifeboat Week came on Sunday, August 4th, when our Head Chef, Chloe Freshwater, and her Second Chef, Dominic Ball, crafted a beautiful cake as a special tribute to the Selsey lifeboat crew. The cake, a masterpiece of culinary art, was presented to the crew at the lifeboat station, where it was met with gratitude and smiles. A few members of our team were present to witness the presentation, showing our support and appreciation for the brave individuals who risk their lives to save others.

Selsey Lifeboat Week is an annual tradition that has been running since 1824, and it plays a vital role in bringing the community together to support the RNLI. The RNLI’s lifesavers have demonstrated unfailing courage and selflessness over the past two centuries, and 2024 will mark the 200th anniversary of their life-saving work at sea. Caraway House is honoured to contribute to this legacy by participating in events that celebrate and support these heroic efforts.

At Caraway House Care Home, we believe in the importance of being active participants in the Selsey community. Lifeboat Week provided us with a wonderful opportunity to join our neighbours in showing our appreciation for the RNLI and its volunteers. By taking part in these activities, our team members not only enjoyed themselves but also strengthened their connection to the community and the cause.
