Our aim of dementia care is to ensure that each person should be given the opportunity to live independently within a calm, supportive and caring environment. We strive to make sure that all of our residents who receive dementia care can make the most of their day by offering appropriate levels of support.
Dementia is a condition that affects mental functions in various ways, leading to speech difficulties, memory loss and mobility within older individuals. Yet, with appropriate care and support, those living with dementia can still enjoy a fulfilled life.
With our dementia care, we’re able to recognise each person’s unique traits and these care needs will vary from person to person. Whilst some require minimal support, others might need more advanced support. Here at Caraway House we provide a person-centered approach and our goal is to empower residents to maintain their independence with a sense of belonging for as long as possible.
At Caraway House Care Home, Selsey, we are proud to offer dementia care and our home is designed to provide a safe and caring environment. Our staff all have received specialised training with up to date dementia practices and research procedures.
From the design and architecture of the home, to the facilities provided, our care home is designed to accommodate residents with dementia, offering a variety of suitable activities and therapies to help improve an individual’s mental, emotional and physical health with the support of our friendly team.

Before moving into our home, you or your loved one will receive a consultation with our home manager, the prospective resident and their loved ones to ensure we meet their needs. We work together to understand their routines, interests and preferences in which we can incorporate into their care plans. We take pride within our person centred care and it’s our goal to help residents keep their independence and dignity whilst ensuring they know we are here for them whenever they need us.
We invest in the development and training of our dementia care team, ensuring they undergo training as a necessity to make sure they keep up to date with the latest changes in dementia care and support. Our team have knowledge and experience to provide effective care for our residents with dementia, including support with activities, therapies, communication, medication management, mobility and personal care.
We provide a range of activities through a programme for all of our residents, including group and 1:1 activities and therapies. For example, our arts and crafts sessions are held regularly alongside music therapy, reminiscence activities and sensory activities. Both the activities and therapies we offer aim to support the mental, physical and social wellbeing of our residents, including those living with dementia.
We are delighted to support those in our wonderful community of Selsey and the surrounding areas with a variety of care services. We deliver resident-focused care where each resident is valued and given the support and opportunities to continue with their hobbies, meet people, and try new things.
