Residential care is living with us in our accommodation with 24 hour supervision, especially for those who need extra help and support with mobility or personal care. Nursing care is very similar in terms of providing 24 hour care and support, however the main difference is the assistance from a registered general nurse who is available both day and night to provide more detailed medical care.

All of our care plans are tailored to each individual and are assessed regularly to make sure they continue to fulfil a resident’s needs. We understand that peoples health and wellbeing needs can change over time, therefore our care is tailored to adapt this, meaning we work together with the resident and their family member to create a personalised care plan that is ideal for them and if it needs changing over time, this can be done with ease.

Care during Covid-19 Questions

When someone has been transferred from the community or another care home, they do not need to isolate. However, if the resident is symptomatic or has been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19, then they should isolate and perform 2 lateral flow tests on day 0 and then again on day 2. Isolation can end following a negative 2 tests. If the resident tests positive within the home, they will need to be isolated for 5 days, then residents can return to their normal activities when they no longer have a high temperature and feel back to themselves (without the use of medication, paracetamol). Residents who test positive should avoid contact with others who are eligible for COVID-19 treatments for 10 days after a positive test, residents who are unable to take the test should isolate for 5 days.

If there is an outbreak within the home there will be risk assessments carried out to include but not limited to the control of visiting arrangements, admissions to the home and the use of communal areas. We work close with local and national agencies in accordance with local agreements and guidance, for further information please contact our home manager directly.

We have clear procedures and protocols in place for everyone which align with the legislation and guidance issued by the government and key sector bodies. There are clear defined company-wide responsibilities to mitigate the ongoing risks of COVID-19, with strategic and flexible leadership provided by the Operational Leadership Team. Additionally, our procedural guidance is regularly reviewed and communicated across the company. Finally, we have accessible information which is provided to ensure staff, residents and visitors are well-informed, particularly of the steps to be taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and what to do in the event of someone becoming infected.

No, however if you would prefer to continue wearing a mask during your visits then you will be supported. Likewise, there could be an occasion when a care home requires visitors to wear face masks, such as during an outbreak within the home.

It’s the little additions that can make all the difference to a room.

Finance Questions

There are multiple methods for paying your care home fees. If the individual has been assessed as having eligible care needs and limited financial resources then the local authority might be able to cover all or part of their care home fees – the amount of funding will all depend on the individual’s means. If the individual has more complex matters, that require full time nursing care, they might be eligible for NHS continuing healthcare funding, this then covers the full cost of care, including accommodation and personal care. If the individual has sufficient income, savings or assets, then they might be required to pay for their care home fees themselves. In some cases, family members may choose to contribute towards the cost of care. Additionally, an individual’s care home fees might be paid for by a combination of sources, like the local authority funding and self-funding.

When you pay your weekly care home fees, this will include your accommodation, all meals, snacks, drinks, any activities you participate in, in-house facilities and local excursions (some may have an additional charge depending on the excursion and location). All care and support needs are also included within your weekly fees, although some additional medical services such as dental care or chiropody may come at an extra cost. We will always try to accommodate all of our residents needs, yet some may incur additional charges.

If you’re having financial difficulties, we want to help you in any way we can, whether that’s looking for a difference finance option or relocating you or your loved one to a smaller suite inside the home. For more information on this, speak to one of our team members today.

From the date of the death, all fees associated with the Care Agreement shall be terminated. Accommodation charges will be paid for up to 10 days from the date of death or until the home is emptied of any personal belongings.

If your care home fee costs more than what your local council is willing to pay, then someone else can make up the difference between that figure and home’s fee, i.e. a family member.

Within Scotland, all care home fees are assessed based on an individual’s assets and income, the Scottish Government has a system in place for assessing an individual’s ability to pay for their care home fees, which is also based off of the principle ‘fair and affordable contributions’. The assessment process will take into account an individuals savings, income and capital assets (property and investments). The amount of contribution that is expected to be made towards the care home fees are calculated based on all of the above. If an individual’s income and assets are below a certain threshold, they might be eligible for financial assistance from the Scottish Government to help pay for their care home fees. In this instance, the government could pay some or all of the care home fee, or at least providing a contribution towards them. Please get in touch with our team for further information.

Fees are reviewed annually and any changes will be advised at least 4 weeks in advance. For further information, please contact us.
